The Impact of Summer Library Reading Programs article
Here is a link to an interesting article by Delaware’s public library system. It discusses the “summer slide” students fall into during the summer months and the need for summer reading programs to keep the fires of literary passion burning.

I met Wallace at this event and after a nice chat, including sharing authors to whom he might relate, I bought “Morgan’s Pasture.” I just finished reading it.
I have to say as an avid reader for over fifty-years (from almost as early as I can remember), an English major, and a person to whom writing has been extremely significant professionally and personally, I found this book terrific!
Well written–of course–you can tell that from just turning to a page and reading a sentence or two (my common practice).
But the story–compelling, great characters, especially Will Border, and the setting. I mentioned that I enjoy reading regional writers, and in the Western U.S. that includes people like Larry Watson and Ivan Doig (that’s the name I couldn’t remember Wallace). I’ve added Wallace Swenson to the list.
In any even I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys good literature.
Thank you Wallace
