Jamerson

Lolly Jamerson, artist, with "Double Self-portrait"

Artist Lolly Jamerson’s mediums include oil paint, enamel, and mixed media such as collage. Her work includes commissioned portraits and a line of enameled jewelry, both of which are often described in terms of her skillful use of color, which is an integral part of her expression. She speaks to the symbolism behind colors as well as to their richness and beauty.

Lolly has dedicated many years to portrait work and is fascinated with capturing a person’s essence. She frequently incorporates one or more figures within a space she invents. This background may include objects that have certain meanings or perhaps be an abstract space. Lolly lists artists Alice Neel, Andrew Wyeth, Frida Kahlo, Gustav Klimt, Lucian Freud, and R. B. Kitaj as among her favorites. In her jewelry pieces, Lolly is inspired by the work of René Lalique and the Art Nouveau movement.

Lolly graduated with a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1990 and has been a working artist since that time. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband and family.
